DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is a sponsoring agency for the AIMD, AMDEE, and the HTMDEC projects. Researchers from the DEVCOM ARL work closely with faculty investigators and students to promote collaboration and ensure the projects support critical Army science and technology needs.

CAIMEE provides partial support for the Hopkins Extreme Material Institute (HEMI) Extreme Arts internship program, which provides internships for Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) students. The program encourages collaboration among artists and researchers to examine data, interpret outcomes, and translate results from extreme events in new ways. MICA students spend a summer interning in a HEMI faculty member’s laboratory. From this immersive experience, each participating student creates a work of art which is inspired by the science and engineering research they observe.

CAIMEE is a partner with HEMI in the Extreme Science internship program that supports Morgan State University students. Students conduct an internal internship at Morgan State University and an external internship at Johns Hopkins University or other partner university in which they perform research activities under the guidance of a faculty advisor. This experience enhances the student’s research, analytical, and communication skills, preparing them for a career in STEM research.

The University of Delaware is a partner performing research on the interphases of glass fiber/epoxy matrix composites as part of the AIMD project. The investigators are developing a physics informed machine learning framework and an integrative design for these composite interphases. Additionally, investigators are conducting high-throughput synthesis, characterization, and testing of these interphases.

The Center on High-throughput Materials Discovery for Extremes (HT-MAX) collaborates with leaders in energy, defense, and education. These partner institutions include Carnegie Mellon University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, Purdue University, University of California Santa Barbara, and University of Massachusetts Lowell.
