MSEE Researchers Present at Department of Defense Basic Research Forum

Two MSEE researchers, Tim Weihs and Hergen Eilers, were invited to present at the Department of Defense’s Basic Research Forum.

Weihs, director of the MSEE URA and a professor in the Department of Materials Sciences and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, presented his talk, “Materials Science in Extreme Environments: Introduction to the URA and Reactive Composite Powders for Agent Defeat,” on February 4. Eilers, lead for Research Area 3/Focus Area 2 of the URA and an adjunct professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Washington State University, will present his talk, “Characterizing Extreme Environments,” on April 22.

The Basic Research Forum aims to increase awareness within the Department of Defense (DoD) of the variety of basic research funded by the DoD, its research organizations, and its laboratories. In attendance are DoD leadership, program officers, and technical staff from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and DoD research organizations.
