Bio: Dr. Terrence R. Meyer specializes in the development and application of laser and x-ray diagnostics for multiphase flows and combustion in novel propulsion, energetic, defense, and hypersonic systems. After earning a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he served as a contract research scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Combustion Branch for six years, as a member of the Mechanical Engineering faculty at Iowa State University for nine years, and as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University for seven years, where is he also a professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics by courtesy. He also formerly served as a visiting professor at Ecole Centrale Paris in France and at Erlangen University in Germany, and as Technical Director of private research firm Spectral Energies, LLC. He is currently the Chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Laser Diagnostics in Energy and Combustion Science, Colloquium Co-Chair for the Diagnostics Section of the 39th International Symposium on Combustion, and Honors and Awards Chair for the Aerodynamic Measurement Technology Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He is a Fellow of Optica (formerly Optical Society of America) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and he is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA.
