These awards provide funding to facilitate the acquisition and development of equipment of benefit to both MSEE and broader Department of Defense research.

Professor Ryan Hurley was awarded for his project titled “An Extreme Pressure Triaxial Compression Apparatus for In‐Situ studies of Geomaterial Deformation Mechanisms”. His project focus is to build a novel extreme-pressure triaxial compression apparatus, that will enable advancements in the fundamental understanding, and predictive modeling of the relationship between microscale and macroscale deformation mechanisms in geomaterials subjected to extreme environments such as impact and/or penetration.

Professor Mike Zachariah, in collaboration with Professor Mark Foster, of Johns Hopkins University, was awarded for his project titled “High-Speed In-Operando Hyperspectral Microscopy”. His project focus is on building a snapshot, high-speed hyperspectral microscope which is a novel, rapid screening instrument, that will be used to study the interplay between the thermally dynamic, and spectrally complex reactions of composites during combustion events.
Congratulations again to our MSEE PIs for winning these prestigious awards!

MSEE PIs are selected as FY23 DURIP Awardees Congratulations to two of our MSEE Principal Investigators (PIs), Professor Ryan Hurley of…

[136,1

post-6585","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-uncategorized
["GET
