HEMI manages and maintains several research facilities across the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Below is an overview of HEMI’s facilities in Malone Hall.

Specimen Preparation (Malone G42)

The specimen preparation area in Malone G42 features the following:

  • Leica TIC 3X Ion Beam Milling System
  • Allied High Tech High Speed Saw
  • Allied High Tech Multiprep Polisher

Electron Microscopy (Malone G38)

The electron microscopy room in Malone G38 features the following:

  • Tescan Mira 3 GM Scanning Electron Microscope
  • SEM (with Oxford Instruments Symmetry 1 EBSD Detector or EDAX EDS Detector)

Other Analytical Equipment (Malone G41)

Malone G41 houses the following equipment:

  • Keyence VHX-X1 Z-Stacking Optical Microscope
  • Malvern Morphologi 4 – Automated Particle Imaging System
  • Nanomechanics iNano Nanoindenter

The following cameras are portable:

  • Shimadzu HPV X2 High Speed Camera
  • FLIR A6701 SC Infrared Camera
