Bell Named National Academy of Inventors Senior Member

Muyinatu ā€œBisiā€ Bell,Ā a John C. Malone Associate ProfessorĀ of electrical and computer engineering at Johns HopkinsĀ Whiting School of EngineeringĀ has been named a Senior Member of theĀ National Academy of Inventors, recognizing her contributions as an academic inventor and her work translating research into real-world technologies.

The NAI Senior Member program recognizes emerging leaders at universities and research institutions who have demonstrated success in patents, licensing, and commercialization, high lighting faculty whose discoveries show strong potential to benefit society by moving innovations from the laboratory toward real-world applications.

Bell directs the Photoacoustic & Ultrasonic Systems Engineering (PULSE) Lab, where she develops advanced ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging technologies designed to improve how physicians visualize structures inside the body. Her research focuses on creating imaging systems that can provide clearer, real-time information during medical procedures, potentially improving surgical guidance and diagnostic imaging.

Bell will be formally inducted as part of the 2026 class of NAI Senior Members during the organization’s annual conference in Los Angeles, June 1–4.
