We are pleased to welcome Professor Jagannathan Sankar (principal investigator) and Dr. Zhigang Xu from North Carolina A&T State University, and Professor Qiuming Wei of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to the MEDE CRA.  They are joining the MEDE CRA through the Partner Research Initiative (PRI) sponsored by the Army Research Office.  The PRI provides HBCUs/Minority Institutions an opportunity to participate in the highly collaborative ARL research programs.

NC A&T/UNCC proposal titled, “Tailoring Mg-alloy Systems through Composition/Microstructure/Severe Plastic Deformation for Army Extreme Dynamic Environment Application” was one of over 140 white paper proposals submitted to the six CRAs/CTAs.  Through a very competitive process, NC A&T/UNCC was selected by ARL leadership to receive a PRI award through our MEDE CRA.  They will be integrated into the Metals CMRG with a focus on metals processing.
