Baltimore Universities Collaborate On Engineering Internships
WBAL-TV  Baltimore (5/8) reports online that Johns Hopkins University and Morgan State University are “joining forces to help engineering students get a leg up on research outside of the classroom.” The article reports that Hopkins is “investing a half million dollars over the course of five years to offer paid internships to Morgan State University students.” The article reports that the students “will get to work alongside some of the nation’s top researchers.”
WJZ-TV  Baltimore (5/2) also covers the collaboration online, noting that the Morgan State engineering and science majors will get “the opportunity to spend the summer working with top level researchers and scholars.” This piece quotes Johns Hopkins President Ronald Daniels saying, “The internships with their focus on building a pipeline that starts right here in Baltimore are also building the strength of our community.” This piece notes that eight students will kick off the program this summer spending up to 15 weeks “at research institutions that focus on engineering and science.” The Baltimore Business Journal  (4/30, Subscription Publication) covered the partnership before it was announced.
