HEMI is proud to welcome Dr. Paul Shade from the Air Force Research Laboratory as he presents his seminar, “Introduction to High Energy Diffraction Microscopy Experiments.”
High energy diffraction microscopy (HEDM) is a quickly evolving in situ synchrotron x-ray capability for non-destructively probing the internal structure and micromechanical state of materials. The available suite of HEDM techniques have recently garnered interest from the structural materials community for gaining insight into structure-property relationships and developing/validating property prediction models. In this introductory talk, we will give an overview of various HEDM methods as well as discuss motivations for using the techniques and practical considerations for how an interested researcher may get involved.
The seminar will be held on the Johns Hopkins University campus in Malone 228.
