Do you want to make your scientific publications more impactful? A picture is worth a thousand words. A well-designed scientific figure is essential for communicating complex ideas to your audience. Join JHU Data Services in this workshop session, where we’ll discuss information and graphic design principles underlying impactful visualizations. This workshop will review figure layout, color choice, information encoding, and figure clarity, and we will cover common design principles to create more effective scientific figures.
Pete Lawson is the Data and Visualization Librarian in Data Services at the Johns Hopkins University Sheridan Libraries. Pete has a Ph.D. from Tulane University, where he researched applications of computational topology, applying machine learning to assess and visualize the presence and progression of prostate cancer in digital histology slides.
