Many thanks to Dr. Harold C. Robinson for sharing his knowledge regarding of relaxor piezoelectric single crystals with us in his seminar this week. The seminar, titled “Relaxor Piezoelectric Single Crystals: Materials, Devices and Application Impacts,” reviewed the different types of ferroelectric single crystals and their production methods, discussed the material properties of these crystals, and their impact on transducer and system design, and showcased device demonstrations from the medical ultrasonics, actuation and Naval sonar arenas that illustrate the tremendous potential of these materials.
