Prof. Mitra Taheri Named a HEMI Fellow

Please join us in welcoming our newest HEMI Fellow, Prof. Mitra Taheri!

Taheri is currently a Professor of Materials Science & Engineering as well as the Director of the Materials Characterization and Processing Facility at Johns Hopkins University. She also holds a joint appointment at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington.

Her main focal area is dynamic electron microscopy and spectroscopy, and the development of such techniques. Complementary to this, her team has been pioneering artificial intelligence methods for understanding materials processing, microstructural evolution, and resulting materials properties.

Taheri earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins University, she was a Hoeganaes Professor of Metallurgy at Drexel University.
