HEMI Adds Three Faculty Members

HEMI is pleased to welcome Professors Tamas Budavari of the Applied Mathematics and Statistics Department, Mark Foster of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, and Stavros Gaitanaros of the Civil Engineering Department as HEMI faculty members.

Budavari received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Eötvös Loránd University in Physics. His research interests are survey astronomy, scientific databases, streaming algorithms, and more.

Foster received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University. His research interests are ultrafast and nonlinear optics, nonlinear dynamics, ultrafast Phenomena and measurement.

Gaitanaros received his undergraduate and M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering degrees from the University of Thessaly and his Ph.D in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Texas as Austin. His research interests are mechanics and computational modeling of cellular materials, structural stability, impact dynamics and energy absorption and structural DNA nanotechnology.

We welcome these new faculty members to the HEMI family and are excited to see how they contribute to the Institute!
