I found information about boron carbide powders from several manufactures: Washington mills, HC starck, Panadyne and Feldco. Powders from HC starch has very small grain size and good purity. Other powders have larger size with similar purity.

I carefully read Tracy and Sundaram’s thesis on experimental techniques. Both of them used pressure shear plate impact to test granular shear flow. However, some specific details are different. In Sundaram’s thesis, a shim ring is used during the impact. For Tracy’s experiments, he uses a soft gasket. Comparatively, their test results are different with nearly one order.  Which one is reliable and which techniques should I use need to be considered carefully.
