Who was involved?

NJIT: PI: Dreizin; Scientist: Schoenitz; PhD student: McNanna
Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD): Andrew Demko and Aaron Mason
Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD): Rohit Jacob and Gihun Kim

How does this transition support DTRA’s mission to provide cross-cutting solutions to enable the Department of Defense to counter WMDs and emerging threats?

This transition supports the DoD mission to develop advanced propellants for air-breathing vehicles. Such vehicles can carry payloads that destroy stockpiles of WMD over greater distances and with enhanced energy density.

What is the current status of the transition?

Multiple batches of boron and modified boron powders are prepared and shipped for testing. This effort is currently in progress. It is funded at NJIT by the US Navy through NEST. The materials are being shipped to NAWCWD and NSWCIHD for tests and evaluation.
