MSEE Optical Spectroscopy Workshop

On November 1 – 2, 2022, MSEE hosted its first Optical Spectroscopy Workshop. The two-day event included presentations and activities designed to give attendees practical experience with optical spectroscopy instrumentation, experiments, modeling, and analysis. The workshop was attended by MSEE PIs, students, postdocs; DTRA; and members of our GCAP. Attendees were exposed to unique optical spectroscopy techniques and how they can be applied to MSEE research: to take a detailed look at various experimental methods for optical measurements of materials in extreme environments including laser-produced plasmas, high-explosive detonations, shock tubes, flames/combustion, and turbulent chemical plumes.

Many thanks to our workshop lead, Mark Phillips, and the numerous organizers, instructors, and participants who helped make this workshop a success.
